The private celebration consisted of a night full of local music, passed hors d'oeuvres, specialty cocktails and a mobile cigar bar. My personal favorite was the vodka martini paired with the donut hole stuffed with brie and bacon. Not even the threat of rain could keep me away from celebrating one of my favorite vodkas. And for the record, their Gins are amazing too!
1876 Texas Straight Bourbon touts an 80% Texas corn and 20% Secale Cereale Oklahoma winter rye mash bill with subtle notes of Rye toast, caramel, vanilla and a hint of smoke on the palette and it is finished with mineral rich Hill Country Artesian Spring Water.
“In Central Texas, due to the summer heat and average winter highs well into the 60’s, Bourbon tends to mature quicker than comparably aged products in Kentucky. Our mix of 3,4 and 5 year barrels has a richness beyond its years,” said Kevin Kelleher, Co-Founder and CEO.
Distilled in Texas and aged in American White Oak Barrels, 1876 Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is named after a year that marked many great beginnings: the American Centennial, the ratification of The Texas Constitution, the formation of The National League of Professional Baseball Leagues, the invention of the telephone and the first sanctioned women’s boxing match.
“I think consumers will be pleasantly surprised by the versatility of 1876 Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey,” said Jason Davies, Production Manager for San Luis Spirits Distilling Co. “Its’ smoothness lends it to sipping neat or on the rocks, but with a bold flavor that will hold up in any cocktail.”
1876 Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the sixth product in the San Luis Spirits family, joining Well No. 1876 Vodka, Dripping Springs Vodka, Dripping Springs Texas Orange Vodka, Dripping Springs Artisan Gin and Dripping Springs Traditional Gin.
Founded by brothers Gary and Kevin Kelleher in 2005, San Luis Spirits Distilling Company is dedicated to the art of distilling world-class products in small batches. The company was the second distiller in Texas, and remains family owned and operated.
1876 Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is now available in select stores across Texas and in the distillery tasting room, which is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm and on Saturdays from 11am-5pm. The distillery also offers tours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The public can also now enjoy craft cocktails at the distillery on Saturdays from 11:00am-4:00pm.
