"I think Texans have more fun than the rest of the world." - Tommy Tune
Texas Cocktails by Cider Mill Press includes more than 100 recipes from Texas bartenders along with interviews, distillery profiles, tips and techniques and a BEST OF TEXAS section. It's available now in bookstores or online. Was very cool to see many of my industry friends featured, some of my favorite distillers and local bars included, along with some great things our industry is involved in like Trigger's Toys and the San Antonio Cocktail Conference. The book itself is a nice carry-along size with a creative cover that includes a die-cut cocktail glass.
I loved the quotes dispersed throughout the book at the beginning of each section. The cocktail photos are beautifully done and the recipes are easy to follow. In addition to cocktail recipes, you'll also find recipes for shrubs and syrups. I'm no bartender, but I do like making cocktails at home on occasion, and this book will be a definite go-to. And if you don't like to experiment at home - that's cool - because this book tells you where the cocktails are made so you can go visit the bar and have them make it for you! It also includes history of the cocktail featured, bartender profiles on some or about the bar itself.
Covering from newbies to seasoned bartenders and established venues, Texas Cocktails offers something for everyone from industry to the cocktail enthusiast. There's not a single section in the book that I didn't enjoy. I've read it beginning to end and have decided to take on the quest of visiting these bars and having the bartenders sign the page their cocktails are featured on. Which will be easy to do, as the book is divided into sections by town. Join me??
