Many traits contribute, but some include Balance, Strength, Perseverance, and Focus.
Now take those qualities and apply them to the spirits industry and what you get is the CocktailNinja.
Embracing all the qualities of a true Ninja, Trevor Schneider represents his brand and himself in the highest regard as part of the esteemed brand ambassador group that is William Grant & Sons; applying all those traits to his position personally and professionally.
As per usual when attending cocktail conferences, I sit down with Trevor Schneider of Reyka Vodka, every chance that I can. And every conversation with him is intriguing, entertaining and leaves me learning something new about him every time.
When I met with Trevor in summer of 2017, I honestly didn't feel right about sharing our conversation, as it had been more on a personal conversation and we spoke as friends, not as an interview. However, what I did find out in that conversation was that he had started getting tattoos in August of 2016 and was already up to 5 pieces. (As someone that got my first one at 40, I can concur that they are addicting!)
So what else has been going on with the CocktailNinja since we last wrote about him? Well the usual traveling to numerous cities, racking up thousands of travel miles and days on the Road. (Being a brand ambassador is not as glamorous as you would think, it is a lot of work.) His home base has changed from New York to Charlotte. The move has giving him an increase of life balance, more down time and real-life survival. He also was a solo presenter for the first time at the San Antonio Cocktail Conference and nominated to the Tales of the Cocktail for Brand Ambassador of the Year (and has been nominated again this year).
In January 2019 at our annual catch-up session during the San Antonio Cocktail Conference, we talked about 2019 plans for Reyka's 10-City Tour where they were bringing Iceland to the cities. Unfortunately for me, Austin was not one of those designated. However, I did learn about the fun and exciting cocktail for 2019 called Ice-tails with wonderful flavors of a cosmo, lemon drop and screwdriver. (I'm really hoping they will have these at this year's Tales of the Cocktail taking place in New Orleans this July.)
I follow the @cocktailninja on Instagram and as you know, the stories feature is a great way to get a behind-the-scenes look at who you follow. Trevor's stories are always entertaining; in part because he is literally an Eveready bunny on steroids. However I do enjoy the calmer side of him with his daily ironing postings. I love a man who irons, and this man does it pretty much every day with music, and dancing. When I asked him about it he told me that hiis father was a DJ so "music is my medicine"... well Trevor, the morning ironing sessions are our medicine! These stories are just a little glimpse into Trevor's bubbly personality and what makes him so special. You can also follow his journey and into the events and places he travels to as a brand ambassador.
The most important and biggest change since we last saw and spoke with Trevor, was his marriage to his lovely girlfriend Emily during the holidays. I have never seen him happier, but can say that I am a little sad. So we joked about the hashtag for this occasion being #consad = Congratulations but sad lol. But seriously, I wish them the best and nothing but happiness. They are so adorable together.
So back to the tattoos. As of this publication time, there have been no new ones - that I'm aware of, but will definitely report back to you. As with most tattoos that people get, there is meaning behind them and with his, it's no different. The most unusual one he has is on his forearm. The letters spell out Ninja with little numbers in the right-hand corner resembling a Scrabble board piece. The first block are the letters Ni with the number one symbolizing Nirvana and The Power of One; the second block are the letters NJ and the number 68 representing the place and year he was born; the last is a simple letter A with the numbers 365 to serve as a reminder to always be Aware. Pretty cool, huh? It is one of the most unusual and endearing tattoos that I've ever seen. But is very appropriate for this CocktailNinja.
So the next time you reach for Reyka Vodka, know that you are enjoying a brand that is well represented by this Ninja spreading the vodka love. It's one of my favorites, partly because of this man, and it's just darn good vodka! You can see all the fun with Trevor and Reyka Vodka on my Instagram - give me a follow at @vodkagirlatx.
