| Walton’s Fancy and Staple, Sixth Street’s historic bakery and gourmet deli, is welcoming Austin’s most notable annual festival with some new Austin-centric South By Southwest cocktails this month. Walton’s is amping up its cocktail offerings during South By Southwest, from March 10 through 19, the full run of the festival, featuring several new seasonal cocktail blends ($8 each), all made in-house and fresh to order. New South By Southwest-inspired cocktails include Party Thyme, Excellent, a blend of blanco tequila, ruby red grapefruit juice and house-made thyme simple syrup, garnished with a fresh thyme sprig; the Thai, How Are Y’all?, with Deep Eddy Peach Vodka, house-made Thai chili simple syrup and ginger ale, garnished with candied ginger and candied Thai chili; and the Lady Bird Lake, with Deep Eddy Vodka, crème de violet liqueur and Topo Chico, garnished with fresh blackberries. Walton’s is also inviting locals to ditch that hump-day slump with a variety of new happy-hour offerings. Every Wednesday in March, from 4 to 7 p.m., Walton’s is serving up a selection of happy-hour-priced specials. Can’t-miss Wednesday happy-hour highlights include the Walton’s artisan cheese board ($12), the perfect sharable platter, featuring Texas-based Deep Ellum Blue cheese, triple cream Brie from France, Grafton Village smoked cheddar from Wisconsin and Van Sormon, a raw cow’s milk cheese sourced from the Brazos Valley, served alongside Texas honeycomb and preserves, candied nuts, fruit and lavash cracker bread. Other Wednesday happy-hour snacks include smoked trout rillettes ($10.50) with pea tendrils, radishes, beets and Meyer lemon jam; sunchoke hummus ($9) with fried peanuts, Sambal hot sauce and hearts on fire greens; and beef tartare ($13) with root vegetable escabeche, parsnip soubise sauce and frisée—each served with cracker bread and crostini.
